Bismuth Shot

Bismuth is the softest metal of all available non-toxic shot types. Bismuth is much softer than any barrel iron and steel shotgun barrels. Therefore it is the non-toxic shot that is easiest on your fine shotguns. Bismuth shot is alloyed with approximately 6% tin in order to maximize bismuth pellet integrity.

Description

Our new production lots of bismuth pellets are alloyed with 6% tin to produce stronger, high-density pellets of excellent quality, integrity, and ballistic capability. Our bismuth pellets are field tested to perform well for upland game and duck loads. Suitable for use in all types of shotguns, including smallbores and those with fixed choke barrels, bismuth shot is quickly becoming the go-to non-toxic shot for American classic shotgunners.

Size

In the past five years, bismuth has come back. We compare the shot’s downrange lethality by its density. The denser the pellet, the better it retains killing power. Steel shot is about 7.8 grams per cubic centimeter (gr/cc); bismuth ups the density to 9.6 gr/cc; lead runs 10-11 gr/cc depending on its alloy content of antimony and maybe a touch of arsenic. Bismuth is just about as dense (and lethal) as lead, plus it’s nontoxic.
